Thank you so much for joining us for the TANG/TACEC 2024 Summer Conference! We’re honored to be partnering with TACEC to allow us to create great experiences in this multi-generational environment. TANG leadership has been extra busy this year planning for the full day we’ve added to the conference this year. Thank you so much to everyone who has worked so hard to make this happen.

 

TANG's theme this year is the phrase, “chia̍h-pá-buē”. In Taiwanese culture, the phrase “”did you eat yet”, holds significant cultural and social importance. It’s not merely a question about one’s meal, it serves multiple functions deeply ingrained in Taiwan culture.

 

Beyond the literal meaning, the phrase carries emotional weight. It signifies care, love, connection, and a sense of belonging within the community. The phrase conveys a sense of intimacy and solidarity particularly among family members and close friends.

 

The tshirt design depicts a family sharing common Taiwanese food together. In Taiwanese culture, food plays a central role in social interactions. Asking someone if they have eaten yet is a way to initiate conversation and build relationships.

 

This year we’re asking chia̍h-pá-buē? and inviting participants to share stories of their families and chosen families. We hope to show all participants this powerful and unique way of expressing love in the Taiwanese community.
